I joined the team at Mercy Education in January 2021,working with and for our Mercy Schools and Colleges across Australia. I believe that Catholic schools are here to make a difference; Catholic schools in the Mercy tradition do make a difference. Indeed, I am a proud graduate and ‘product’ of Mercy education.
Over the past 30 plus years, strong leadership and management skills been enhanced through key educational leadership roles in schools as teacher and through various positions of school leadership, senior executive positions as Principal, across systems as an Assistant Director, Deputy Director and as Director of Catholic Education in country South Australia.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to work at a local, national and international level and my depth of experiences have continued to broaden as new challenges have been presented and new goals achieved. I am a very proud Catholic educational practitioner and leader and for me, life is about relationships and ‘right’ relationships connected to learning at all levels. This certainly has been the case for me as teacher, whether at Year 3 or Year 12, as a School Principal, when conducting Professional learning for senior school and system leaders in various overseas cross-cultural settings or debating and discussing national issues of education on various NCEC sub committees.
Mercy schools have an increasingly important role in the mission of the wider Church community, ‘making known the merciful love of God through an apostolic service to those in need’. At the heart of Mercy Education is our mission to support a broad range of Colleges and to offer excellence in contemporary education in a safe environment, enriched by the Gospels and faithful to the legacy of Catherine McAuley. I am enjoying our journey together in Mercy as we ensure that Catherine’s vision of the lived Gospel is at the heart of our educational communities.
